Each year, the UPEI Co-operative Education Program recognizes its exceptional students and employers with the UPEI Co-op Awards. Winners of the 2022 awards are Nandisha Ramsurrun, UPEI Business Co-op Student of the Year; Aadesh Warren Nunkoo, UPEI Science Co-op Student of the Year; and Dr. James Polson, UPEI Department of Physics, Co-op Employer of the Year. The awards were presented on May 24, 2023, at a ceremony in Schurman Market Square, Don and Marion McDougall Hall, UPEI.

The UPEI Men鈥檚 Hockey Panthers have secured a commitment from Inverary, Ontario native Cam Morton for the 2023鈥�24 season. The team is excited that their new blueline is taking shape with the addition of this strong defenceman.

Dr. Xiuquan (Xander) Wang, associate professor and director of the Climate Smart Lab at UPEI鈥檚 Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation, is the recipient of the E. Whitman Wright Award for Excellence in Information Technology in Civil Engineering from the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE). The award was presented during the CSCE鈥檚 annual conference in Moncton, New Brunswick, May 24鈥�27, 2023.

With the assistance of the Government of Prince Edward Island鈥檚 Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Fund, UPEI now has 20 EV charger locations across campus in Charlottetown in addition to four at the Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation in St. Peter鈥檚 Bay.

Members of the UPEI community packed McMillan Hall in the W.A. Murphy Student Centre on May 25, 2023, to celebrate the achievements of their colleagues. During the event, the University Awards of Excellence and 25-Year Service Awards were presented to faculty, librarians, clinical veterinary professionals, clinical nursing instructors, sessional instructors, and staff members.
