Catholic Student Association General Members Meeting to discuss and plan upcoming events.

University students from all over the Maritimes will come to PEI to participate in our regional conference which goes all weekend.

There will be a fundraising lunch on Wednesday, October 12 from 10:30 am to 1pm to support the upcoming Wheel & Win Wheelchair Challenge that supports the Canadian Paraplegic Assocation (formerly the Rick Hansen Wheelchair Challenge). Sponsored by EAP classes 20A and 17B, everyone who comes will receive an international lunch and entertainment for $6.00. Entertainment includes a Chinese dance, several guitar solos and a Gujung performance at 12 noon by Oxana Wang. Food includes sushi, dumplings, fried chicken, fried rice, noodles, sweets and more! We also have a nicknack table of sale items and you are welcome to bring something along to sell for the cause!

The UPEI Career Development Centre will host the Fall Federal Career Fair on November 9th 2011 from 11:00-2:00 pm at the WA Murphy Student Centre. It is an opportunity for students and graduates seeking information about career opportunities with the federal government and for federal organizations to help guide the students through the application process.

Please join Faculty of Education鈥檚 PhD and Masters students as they present their work. The seminar will start with a Ph.D Panel: 鈥淚ssues of identity in Educational Research: Bridging theory and practice鈥� with Verne Lorway presenting 鈥淢usical ruling relations and youth cultural identity in reflexive educational research鈥� and Bonnie Stewart presenting 鈥淪ocial Media Identity: Practices, Platforms, and Performativity.鈥� MED student Joanne MacNevin will present her research on "鈥楩eeling our way in the dark鈥�: Educational Directions for Students from Refugee Backgrounds.鈥�

Dr. Janet Ferguson will present 鈥淯nderstanding Teacher Identity Development Through Narrative Inquiry.鈥� Narrative inquiry can expose the struggle created by competing forces that come to bear on all of us as teachers and thus create spaces for renewed compassion and appreciation for pre-service teachers but also for each other as teacher educators.

Dr. Laura Mae Lindo will present 鈥淐hallenge, Change, and Sensibilities: Learning from the 鈥楻ace Comic.鈥欌�� Research focus: Re-envisioning anti-racist interventions in pre-service classrooms and beyond.
