UPEI鈥檚 Robertson Library set to host their first-ever kitchen party fundraiser and celebration

The Robertson Library at UPEI is set to host their first-ever Kitchen Party on Saturday, September 27鈥攁 fundraising event in support of the 鈥淟ove Our Library鈥 campaign as well as a celebration of the Library鈥檚 50th anniversary. The event will be held upstairs in the Reading Room from 7:00 to 10:00 pm with live music by Roy Johnstone, Rob Drew and Harmony Wagner. There will also be a cash bar and light refreshments. 

Kayla Batchilder and Luc Doucette named UPEI Panther Source for Sports Athletes of the Week

Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Source for Sports Athletes of the Week for September 16鈥22 are Kayla Batchilder (women鈥檚 field hockey) and Luc Doucette (men鈥檚 cross country).

Batchilder is a third-year kinesiology student from Charlottetown, PEI. She wasted no time making her mark on the new season, lighting up the Atlantic University Field Hockey tournament, which was held at UPEI, with eight goals across four games on September 20 and 21.

2025 Mickey Place Memorial Basketball Tournament takes place September 26 to 28

The UPEI men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 basketball teams are set to compete at the annual Mickey Place Memorial Basketball Tournament. The tournament features nine teams from across Canada and runs from Friday, September 26, to Sunday, September 28.

The women鈥檚 pool includes Universit茅 Laval, Cape Breton University, Toronto Metropolitan University, and UPEI.

Dr. Joseph Gordon recognized with national Open Science research award

Dr. Joseph Gordon, Biomedical Sciences with AVC and Anatomy Lead for the Memorial Regional Medical Program at UPEI, has received national recognition for his innovative use of Open Science in biomedical research. Dr. Gordon was awarded the 2025 CIHR-IMHA Inclusive Research Excellence Prize for Open Science, valued at $25,000, for his groundbreaking work investigating muscle remodeling in obesity and type 2 diabetes.

TRC Mawi'omi at UPEI

Join us for a day of reflection, learning and community as we mark the 10th anniversary of the release of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC)鈥檚 Final Reports along with 94 Calls to Action, which guide Canada鈥檚 path toward reconciliation. Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (NDTR). The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.

UPEI Philosophy Reading Group meeting

The UPEI Philosophy Reading Group is starting up again for the 2025/2026 academic year. The group meets downtown on a monthly basis and plans to convene for the first time this semester on Tuesday, September 23, from 7:00-8:00 pm in the Blue Jay Room, Charlottetown Library Learning Centre, 97 Queen Street, Charlottetown.

This year, the group will focus on the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze, beginning with his book Nietzsche and Philosophy

Painted stones on campus deliver messages of care

91福利在线你懂的 students came together with UPEI Campus Life, UPEI Student Union, and the UPEI Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office (SV-PRO) on September 16 to paint stones with messages of respect, consent, compassion, and care. The stones are now scattered across campus along walkways and in flower beds so that all UPEI community members can see the art and receive the messages of care.
