Science Atlantic Environment conference at UPEI a success
University students from across Atlantic Canada learned about environmental research taking place in the region during the 2024 Science Atlantic Environment conference hosted by UPEI鈥檚 Environmental Studies program last month.
Seventy-eight students and faculty from universities in Atlantic Canada attended the conference. Forty-nine oral and poster presentations were given by undergraduate and graduate students, 11 of whom were from UPEI.
UPEI Grad Class 2024 Mix and Mingle a success
The UPEI Department of Alumni and Engagement hosted a social night on Tuesday, April 9 at the Fox & Crow, W.A. Murphy Student Centre. The event was held to help welcome the UPEI Class of 2024 to the UPEI alumni family and was open to all 2024 graduates and UPEI, Saint Dunstan鈥檚 University, and Prince of Wales College alumni.

Help The Mount prepare for their community book swap, which will include a bake and bookmark sale to raise funds to build a little lending library. In this Afternoon of Service, we will help residents prepare the baked goods and make the bookmarks.

PETAPAN 2024: First Light Symposium
The will take place from May 29 to June 2, 2024. This bi-annual event celebrates Indigenous artists from the Atlantic region, providing a space for dialogue, connection, and sharing of practices. This year, PEI will be honoured to host PETAPAN.

UPEI Engineering Brigades Club design water system for rural community in Honduras
In February 2024, the UPEI Engineering Brigades Club traveled to Honduras where they designed a water system for the rural community of La Brea.
The 22-member student team worked alongside Honduran engineers and the Global Brigades staff on the project. This trip marked the second-ever successful UPEI Global Engineering Brigade service trip. They were accompanied by Dr. Libby Osgood, associate professor, Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering, and Sherilyn Acorn, manager, UPEI Office of Study Abroad and International Partnerships.
PEI native Dr. Suzanne Kresta appointed Dean of UPEI Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering
Dr. Suzanne Kresta, a native of PEI, has been appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE) at the 91福利在线你懂的 for a five-year term, effective September 1, 2024.
Dr. Kresta is a professor of chemical engineering and recently completed a term as the Dean of Engineering (2018鈥�2023) at the University of Saskatchewan. Previously, she was the Associate Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, at the University of Alberta.
MacLauchlan Panther Pitch live competition is April 10 at UPEI
On Wednesday, April 10, six UPEI business student teams will pitch their start-up businesses for a share of $62,000 in prize money during the MacLauchlan Panther Pitch Competition. The event, which is open to the public, will take place from 4:00 to 8:30 pm in Don and Marion McDougall Hall, Room 242.
AVC hosts retirement party for beagles
