President Wendy Rodgers, and chair of the selection committee, announced in a community message that Tim Walker was appointed UPEI's new Vice-President, Administration and Finance by the Board of Governors.

Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Source for Sports Athletes of the Week for February 3鈥9, 2025, are Devon Lawlor (women鈥檚 basketball) and Kyree Thompson (men鈥檚 basketball).

UPEI Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE) teams, composed of a total of 48 students, competed at the 2025 Atlantic Engineering Competition (AEC), hosted at Universit茅 de Moncton in New Brunswick from January 24鈥26, 2025.

The Jane DiCarlo rink, from the Crapaud Community Curling Club, won its second PEI women鈥檚 curling championship in a row at the West Prince Curling Club in Woodstock on January 25 and are headed to the national Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

The UPEI Health and Wellness Centre has received a grant from the provincial government鈥檚 2024鈥2025 LIVE WELL PEI Wellness Grant Program to educate UPEI students about reducing harms related to alcohol through awareness campaigns and education modules.

The Pan-African flag was raised at UPEI on Monday, February 3, to mark Black History Month by Dr. Greg Naterer, vice-president academic and research at UPEI; Jessica Ekeleme, president of the African Students Association; and Tamara Steele, executive director of the Black Cultural Society of Prince Edward Island.
