UPEI Men鈥檚 Basketball has teamed up with award-winning Kimberlee Farms of Centreville, Nova Scotia to raise funds for various UPEI athletic financial awards through the sale of honey crisp apples. The farm鈥檚 owner, Tim Pearson, is a long-time friend of UPEI Men鈥檚 Basketball Head Coach Tim Kendrick, and is also a Green & White Club member. Ten-pound bags of honey crisp apples will be sold for $20. Orders can be made through the men鈥檚 basketball players, or by visiting Panther Central.

The School of Business invites the campus community to attend two public presentations for a tenure-track faculty position in Tourism and Hospitality:
Dr. Richard Parker will be on campus Monday, February 3 and will deliver a public presentation at 1:00 pm in McD 328 entitled "Remembering to Breathe: Examining Undergraduate Reactions to Alberta Tourism's Latest Marketing Campaign"
Dr. Kim Lemky will visit on Friday, February 7 and will present to the public at 1:00 pm in McD 328, "Facade and Streetscape Programmes on Cape Breton Island: A Panacea for Revitalization of the Tourism Industry?"
All are welcome to attend!
Stop by the International Relations Office in Robertson Library (room 215), from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday, February 3 to meet our staff, and learn about the services we offer to students, staff, and faculty. Light refreshments will be provided. This open house will kick off the 2014 International Development Week. All are welcome to attend.

Join Laura Simms, an award-winning performer, writer, and educator for an evening of storytelling. Laura received the Brimstone Award for Engaged Storytelling, CHOICE award for best story collection, and Sesame Street鈥檚 SUNNY DAYS award for work with children worldwide. Laura is the mother of Ishmael Beah, former child solider in Sierra Leone, and author of A Long Way Gone, an international bestseller. A reception with refreshments will follow. Tickets are $20 and include admission, light refreshments, and one drink ticket per person. A portion of every ticket sold will be used to raise funds for the Dr. Vianne Timmons International Student Award.

Nominations are open for for the 2013鈥�14 Katherine Schultz Research Recognition Awards. Nominations can come from individuals or groups of people and should be accompanied by a supporting document demonstrating the nominee鈥檚 contributions to research at UPEI. The award comes with a thousand-dollar prize. Nominees can be a UPEI faculty member, staff member, or volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to the research enterprise at UPEI. The Scholarships and Awards Committee will accept nominations until March 1.
Dr. Karen Samis' seminar entitled "Why I came to PEI for the beaches and ended up in a ditch. The story of sea rocket and lupines" is cancelled for today, January 31.

Please join us for Nicky Hyndman's public presentation on Thursday, February 6, from 9:30-10:30 am. Her presentation is entitled: "Doing homework, doing best?: Homework as a site of gendered neoliberal governance." The presentation will be held in the Faculty Lounge, Main Building. The next UPEI on-site training session in animal use and care will be held on Wednesday, February 19 from 1:00-4:00 pm in AVC's McCain Foundation Learning Commons, Room 287N.
This will be a 3 hour training session with handout, based on CCAC Recommended Syllabus (exam included). The Canadian Council of Animal Care (CCAC) requires that all personnel involved with the use of animals in research, teaching, testing, and service take this course. (A refresher course is required every 5 years.)
